The Abbey Theatre, 1904

The
project created a digital model of Dublin's original Abbey Theatre as it was on its
opening night, 27th December 1904. The new, three-dimensional model is opening up
fresh ways of exploring the stories and histories of the early years of Ireland's
National Theatre. The project has implemented the principles of the London Charter by recording, on its website each step of the research and modelling process. The project was created by KVL
Associate Director, Dr Hugh Denard, while on sabbatical study leave in Dublin
in collaboration with local digital graphics company, Noho.
This
project has been funded by the Visiting Research Fellowship scheme of the Long
Room Hub, Trinity College Dublin.
